Dr. Emma Mak is the first UK-registered (UK-HCPC Health & Care Professions Council) Music (Arts) Therapist practicing in Hong Kong. After relocation to Perth, Australia, Dr. Mak continued with supervision works in Hong Kong. Dr. Mak was the second Music Therapist in Hong Kong who gained the title of Fellow of the Academy for the R.F. Unkefer Academy for Neurologic Music Therapy. Dr. Mak has over 20 yrs experience working with individuals living with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and in early childhood intervention. Dr. Mak has been providing music psychotherapy for people living with psychological difficulties and different levels of psychological disorders since 2008. 

Appointments Dr. Mak had taken up over the years include the Board of Trustees of Rhenish Church Grace School, Clinical Supervisor of Music Therapy students of the University of Melbourne, visiting lecturer of Lutheran Theological Seminary, adjunct lecturer of Alliance Bible Seminary, annd Lecturer of Hong Kong Open University (now Hong Kong Metropolitan University). Dr. Mak is currently an Educational Consultant for Chinese Rhenish Church Early Childhood Education and a consultant for Rhenish Grace and Joy Development Centre.

Dr. Mak's professional practice covers Music Psychotherapy Services for all age groups and families and Music Therapy in facilitating speech, movements, cognitive development, social interactions. She is also interested in incorporating music therapy into Christian worship practice to make it accessible for individuals living with SEN and dementia.
